The President delivered his Address during my stay in Copenhagen, where I took part in the Arctic Council session. Despite the fact our schedule was tight I managed to listen to the Presidential Address live. It was very interesting for me to listen to Dmitry Medvedev’s speech not just because I am a citizen of my country, but also because I was deeply impressed by his article “Go Russia!” and participated in the discussion of the Presidential Address (and I liked it very much, not the participation itself, but the fact the President offered the citizens to take part in the discussion).

On November 19 the republic’s parliament approved in the first reading law on obligatory ethnological examination of the projects that can change the indigenous peoples’ of the North environment.

On November 12-13 the SAO (Senior Arctic Officials) meeting was held in Copenhagen. The RAIPON’s representatives also took part in the event, there were: Pavel Sulyandziga, Dmitriy Berezhkov, Larisa Abryutina. 

Reindeer breeding requires legislative control, said Sergei Kharyuchi, speaker of Yamal Duma, president of the Russian Association of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, during the 3rd reindeer breeders’ Congress in Moscow.

According to the reports in mass media residents of the Paren village suffer from the constitutional rights violation (they lack food, proper medical, preschool and educational services, etc.).

Paren is an ethnical village in the north of Kamchatka Krai, Penzhin district, Koryak Okrug. About 60 residents live there. At the end of the last week Raisa Avak, director of the Koryak branch of the Kamchatka professional development institute of Palana, called the Paren village to learn about the problems of teaching Koryak in local schools.
